Knowing more?

At the start of 2019 we were priviliged to start use of our newest vessel. The GSNED 18 is the little brother (or sister) of the GSNED17 and is 8.00 meters long and 3.15 meters wide. A Weichai engine with 203 hp provides the propulsion. Of course the boat is equipped with all lighting such as searchlight and navigation lighting as well as the necessary safety and rescue equipment such as fire extinguishers, lifebuoys and vests. In addition, 2 Tirfor winches are mounted on the front. The own weight of the GSNED 18 is approximately 8 tons.
The big advantage of this ship, due to its dimensions, its own weight and the fact that it is equipped with lifting eyes, is the possibility to transport by road. This allows us to change location very quickly and if a work is carried out over several areas that are relatively far apart, we can move the GSNED 18 quickly using our own means of transport.

In Terneuzen, a lot of work is being carried out on a New Sluice Terneuzen. With a length of 427 meters, a width of 55 meters and a depth of 16.44 meters, the New Sluice becomes one of the largest locks in the world. In terms of dimensions, the Terneuzen lock is comparable to the locks in the Panama Canal, but slightly smaller than the Kieldrecht lock near Antwerp (in use in 2016) and the new sea lock in IJmuiden, which will be completed in early 2022.
